Charles “Buck” Frederick Skuhr, age 89, passed away on September 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Charles was the son of the late William and Mable Skuhr. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy, where he worked as a surgical assistant. Following his military service, he worked for General Motors as an assembly-line worker. After approximately 20 years of dedicated service, he retired from General Motors in 1986.
Charles was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and father-in-law. He enjoyed fishing and watching football with his grandson and was a valued member of his church family at Redeeming River Church of God. Charles had a generous heart and supported many charitable organizations throughout his life. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his service to his country, and his compassion for others.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sonja Lee Skuhr, and his parents, William and Mable Skuhr.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Skuhr Gable, and her husband, Clint Gable; his grandson, Darren Gable; his granddaughter, Sharri Gable; and his sister, Joan Skuhr Mayberry.
Charles’s life and memory will be cherished by his family, his church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday September 10th, at 10 am at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, located at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A Service will follow at 11am with Rev. Larry Digges presiding, a procession to Glade Cemetery in Walkersville following.
