Chauncey Alton “Junior” Rohrer Jr., 80, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born March 31, 1945, in Washington, D.C., to the late Chauncey A. Rohrer, Sr., and Frances Elizabeth (Ewing) Rohrer, Junior was a lifelong resident of the Boonsboro area with a work ethic and independence that defined him.
A 1963 graduate of Boonsboro High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea, earning Expert marksman recognition and playing shortstop on the base softball team. Upon returning home, he built a respected career in the trades, becoming a Master Electrician for the Architect of the Capitol. He retired in 2010 to enjoy more time with family and pursue his hobbies.
Junior was a man who loved fiercely, stood firmly by his friends, and valued loyalty above all. He was strong-willed, straightforward, and dependable. His greatest pride was his family. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world, and a full house of family gatherings never failed to put a big smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda M. Rohrer; son Richard (Brett) Rohrer and wife Kristen; daughter Shannon Rohrer Gorman and husband Shane; son Christopher Shane Rohrer and wife Tiffany; seven grandchildren: Bryce "Casey" Rohrer, Olivia Gorman, Elle Gorman, Audrie Gorman, Xander Rohrer, Brooks Rohrer, and Seager Rohrer; sisters Sandra L. Ingram and husband Everett (Henry), Jeanne M. Gray and husband Ronnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Junior was preceded in death by brothers Blaine E. Rohrer, Terrence L. (Terry) Rohrer, and Forrest D. Rohrer; and half-brothers Melvin F. Saylor and Ronald W. Saylor.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.
A celebration of Junior’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, officiated by his nephew Eric L. Gray and close friend Roger Otzelberger. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland.
