Christopher Bent Fowler, aged 71, of Point of Rocks, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Lisa Mullins Fowler, with whom he shared 43 loving years. They enjoyed the environment where they lived in all seasons. In winter, they delighted in cross-country skiing along the C&O canal trail.
Born on February 21, 1955, in Albany, Georgia, Chris was the son of the late Earl Leslie Fowler and Ulla (Graesbeck) Fowler.
His early years were spent in Westtown, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Westtown High School in 1973. He continued his education at Earlham College, graduating in 1977, and later earned a master’s degree from Hood College in 1991. He was proud to be a member of Phi Kappa Phi.
Chris initially pursued a career in mortgage banking before uncovering his true passion for photography. He had a profound appreciation for the arts. As a film photographer, he was captivated by the interplay of light and geometry, which he captured in stunning images from his travels and around his home. He believed that art is about telling the truth, which is why he did not manipulate images. As he said," the images are quite literally what I saw through the lens. They may not be technically sophisticated, but they are…deeply felt".
Chris's photographs have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States from California to NY, and internationally from Sweden to Egypt. He accomplished his goal of having his work shown throughout the world.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa, his brother, Frederik Mark Fowler, and numerous cousins.
Services and interment will remain private.
Memorial donations may be made to Frederick Friends Meeting, 723 N. Market St.,Frederick, MD 21701 or Maryland Federation of Art (MFA), 18 State Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401.
