Clara Johanno Moore

Clara Johanno Moore, 86, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Moore, whom she married On August 18, 1961. The love they shared for 59 years was commemorated when they renewed their vows on their 13th, 25th, and 50th anniversaries

Born on March 28, 1939, in Thurmont, MD she was the daughter of the late Herbert Wesley Devilbiss and Ethel Virginia Carbaugh Devilbiss.

Clara was a friendly individual who would share a warm smile and hearty laugh with people. She worked as a waitress with Mountain Gate Family Restaurant for many years, where she met a variety of individuals who would become friends. She would invite those to holiday dinners when they were far from their loved ones so they could have comfort when things could be lonely. She enjoyed reading Harliquin Romance and doing word search books, yet what she truly enjoyed was her soap opera. Those who would visit her at home knew not to interrupt her story. What made her truly happy was her family, especially her grandsons and great grandsons. They would always bring a smile to her face and share loving hugs.

She is survived son Rob Moore and his wife Val of Dillsburg, PA, daughter Melissa Moore of Thurmont, MD, grandsons Ryan Moore of Dillsburg, PA, Matt Moore and his wife Alexis and 2 great grandsons Griffin and Sterling of Lexington Park, MD, Shirley Curry of Lubbock, TX, Gloria Mercer and her husband Frank of Thurmont, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristy Dawn Moore, her siblings Franklin (Herby) Devilbiss, Margaret (Sis) Reed, James Devilbiss, Edna (Dump) Beall, Hazel Devilbiss, and Mary (Peachie) Devilbiss.

The family will receive friends from 11 am - 12 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Harriet Chapel Catoctin Episcopal Church, 12625 Catoctin Furnace Road in Thurmont, MD, where a celebration of Clara's life journey will take place at 12 pm. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, MD.
