Clifford "David" Bond, 86, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, 4 October 2026 at his home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of 37 years to Paula Kathrine Bond.

Born on 27 January 1940, in Washington, DC, he was the son of Clifford Henry Bond and Mary Jane (Shutlock) Bond.

David graduated as a Civil Engineer from Virginia Polytechnic Institute on 9 June 1963.

Following graduation, David began his career with the Federal Government working for the Department of the Navy. During his time there, he received several accolades and awards. His peers voted him the Department Employee of the Year in 1995. He was also part of a team that was awarded the NSSN David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award in 1998. He was awarded the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, the second highest honor bestowed upon Navy civilians, on 10 March 2000. David retired in April 2000 after 36 years of service.

Outside of work, David enjoyed many things. Woodworking was one of his favorite pastimes. He designed and built many pieces of furniture for family and friends which are treasured by all who received one of his custom pieces. He also enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and watching them grow. After retirement, he became involved in bowling, and he became quite competitive. David was also quite fond of being by the ocean. He and Paula travelled to Florida annually where they met, and became good friends with, many people from around the country. He also liked to work on crossword puzzles in his downtime.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Lisa Filicko (Gerard) of Midlothian, VA, Karen Snyder of Chesterfield, VA, Jeff Bond of Monticello, KY, step-sons Sean McDevitt of Gaithersburg, MD, David McDevitt (Daniel) of Cicero, NY, his brother Michael Bond (Patty) of San Antonio, TX, sister Catherine Dorton of Goldsboro, NC, and sister Betty Messenger of Oxford, NC, grandchildren Hannah Löhr (Louis), Jaclyn Snyder, Tanner Hofe (Angeline), Nicholas Bond, and Kaitlyn McDevitt, and nieces and nephews.

David is predeceased by both of his parents, sister Patricia Bond, brother Richard Bond and brother Lawrence Bond.

A celebration of David's life will be held for family and friends on 1 November 2026 location and time to be determined.
