Clifford (Cliff) Lawrence Strobel

August 7, 1936 — March 17, 2024

Frederick

Clifford (Cliff) Lawrence Strobel, 87, of Frederick, Maryland, formerly of Derwood and Rohrersville, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024, with his wife by his side. The youngest son of George and Virginia Strobel, Cliff was born and raised in Washington, DC.
Cliff was a devoted husband to Pauline Strobel (Dyer) for over 68 years, and together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. He was the proud father of eight children: Shari Strobel (Glenn) of Georgia, Donald Strobel (Dana) of Middletown, Terri Strobel of Germantown, Lisa Mahoney of Thurmont, Scott Strobel (Lisa) of Keymar, Sean Strobel (Teresa) of Williamsport, and Ashleigh Davis (Adam) of Walkersville.  His children blessed Cliff with many grand and great-grandchildren.  With pride, he answered to the names Dad, Pop, Grandad, Paw Paw, and Papa.  In addition to raising his children, he and Pauline opened up their hearts and home to countless foster children for over twenty-five years.
Clifford retired after 43 years from Safeway as a master butcher. However, he wasn’t one for idle time. He often worked multiple jobs and owned two successful businesses to provide for his family. In the midst of his busy life, Cliff found joy in simple pleasures. He relished family vacations, attending auctions, and working with his hands around the home, especially on his Volkswagens, International Harvester Cub, maintaining his plants and property, and cooking meat. Cliff, a well-known chocoholic, also had a love for coffee and doughnuts.
Although Clifford's life was filled with love and laughter, it was not without its sorrows. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael David, whose memory he held dear in his heart.
Cliff’s services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 12 to 2 pm, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. His final resting place will be at 3pm at Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758, immediately following the viewing.
