Cornelius Joseph McNamara Jr.

Cornelius Joseph McNamara, Jr., 96, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at The Leland of Laurel Run in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

Born on November 4, 1927, in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the son of the late Cornelius Joseph McNamara and Caroline (Mohl) McNamara.

He worked at the Baltimore Hippodrome Theatre, Century Theatre and was proud of all the old movie stars he met!  Then he went on to work for the Baltimore City Park Service until retirement.

Cornelius enjoyed fishing, crabbing, coin collecting and antique bottle collecting.

He is survived by his children, Betty Wright and her husband Mike of Texas, Charles Swarthout of Baltimore, Maryland, Ethel Corum and her husband Art of Illinois, Cornelius Joseph McNamara, III and his wife Gerri of Maryland, and Rose Matthew of Baltimore, Maryland. Many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended relatives also survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife Goldie McNamara and his son Bob Swarthout.

A graveside service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9th at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in  Marriottsville, Maryland.
