Daniel Richard Arrington, Jr.

Daniel Richard Arrington Jr., 94, passed from this life on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his residence in Mount Airy, Maryland. Born on April 4, 1931 in West Friendship, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel Richard Arrington Sr. and Katherine G. Hurt Arrington.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy Mae Moxley, his wife of 65 years. Richard was a member of Marvin Chapel Church where he often provided special music. He and his wife were dairy farmers on Plain Four Farm until retirement. Richard was a dedicated husband, father, and farmer. He enjoyed playing bluegrass on his dobro and played with several bands including The First Fruits, Lone Mountain, and String Band America.

He is survived by his brother Louis Arrington and wife Sandra of Wisconsin, and his children Richard and wife Lenora, George, Mark and wife Shari, and Mary Kay Garver and husband Dyke, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation is at 10 am with Celebration of Life following at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13th, at Marvin Chapel Church, 5101 Woodville Road in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Pastor Brian Remsch will officiate. His music will be played during the viewing and fellowship meal in addition to live music from his band, The First Fruits Bluegrass Gospel Band, during the service. Interment will be at Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Following the interment, please join the family for a luncheon and sharing memories at New Beginning Nazarene Church, 12350 Jesse Smith Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771. Memorial donations may be made to Marvin Chapel UMC.
