Daniel (Dan) V. Hartman, 77, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, in his hometown of Brunswick, MD, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 12, 1948, in Brunswick, MD, Dan was the beloved son of the late Joseph Frank Hartman and N. Virginia Hartman. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph (Joe) Hartman; and sister, Virginia Walker.
A proud graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1966, Dan was a standout athlete and served as drum major in the school band. He went on to build a remarkable 37-year career with Potomac Edison (Allegheny Power), beginning as a desk clerk taking customer payments, and rising through the ranks to lead Foreman Services and Customer Operations.
Dan was a devoted husband, an incredible father, and a cherished friend. He had a deep passion for coaching youth sports and a lifelong love of the outdoors, especially boating, fishing, and spending time near the beach. A gifted musician, Dan, played several instruments including the trumpet and piano. He was also an avid car enthusiast who found great joy in car shows, drag racing, and reconnecting with his lifelong friends, and his Duquesne Drag Team.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jane Hartman of Millsboro, DE; his sister, Carol Ann Rowe of Frederick, MD; his children: David Hartman (Shirley) of Keedysville, MD, Stacy Garrott (Mark Nelson) of Brunswick, MD, and Chad Hartman (Julie) of Keedysville, MD. He was a proud grandfather to Jeremy (Tisa) and Trevor Garrott, Kolbi Gleim (Zach), Natalee and Zoe Hartman, and Gavin, Haylee, Mylee, and Raelyn Hartman. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Michael, Chloie, Bella, Oaklie, and Willow.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dan’s life on Friday, August 15, 2025. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick. A celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. at the same location, with a continued gathering from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Brunswick Eagles Aerie 1136, 401 Central Ave in Brunswick.
