Listen to Obituary

David William Ayersman of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on August 19, 2026 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was born on December 13, 1944, in Rowlesburg, West Virginia and was the son of the late George and Evelyn Ayersman.

He was the loving husband of Stephanie Ayersman for 57 years, and is survived by his daughter Jennifer; his grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, and Hutton; their father Vincent; his sister, Karen, and her husband, Bill; nephew Don.

A forever Maryland Terrapin, David earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business and Public Administration at the University of Maryland, College Park. He went on to dedicate 34 years to the Internal Revenue Service, serving as a Director’s Representative and Branch Manager and earning his CPA. Following his retirement, he spent another 10 years assisting taxpayers.

Yet those who knew him best will remember him for his lifelong athleticism and love of sports. David enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, baseball, golf, and ping-pong, riding his bike, and cheering on the Orioles, Ravens, Commanders, and Terrapins. Eventually, David exchanged his place on the court for a seat in the stands, where he became one of his grandchildren’s most devoted fans. He proudly attended hundreds of his grandchildren’s baseball games, soccer games, tennis matches, and track meets.

In addition, David had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and airplanes, earning both his motorcycle and pilot’s licenses. He was a faithful blood donor throughout his life and worked with the Way Station, a community-based mental health and rehabilitation program in Frederick, Maryland, driving clients to their jobs. He also enjoyed time at the beach, where he especially loved floating peacefully in the ocean.

In David’s memory, the family invites those who wish to do so to make a donation to Frederick Health Hospice (https://hospicefoundation.org/donate) or the Brain Donor Project (https://braindonorproject.org/support-us/).
