David Richard Fritz

David Fritz, 77, of Germantown, Maryland died at home on January 19, 2026 after a heroic battle with cancer. 

Born June 14, 1948 in Somerset, PA, son of Millard and Betty Fritz and preceded in death by parents and siblings Jim and Sandy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Ruth (Menhorn), sons Jeff (Julie) and Rich, sister Sue and grandchildren Jamie, Jason, Jackson, and Jordyn Fritz. 

Dave grew up in Garrett and was a proud graduate of Meyersdale High School (1966) and California (PA) State College. He taught one year in the Rockwood School District before entering retail management with W.T. Grant, Peoples Drug, and concluded his managerial career with 30 years at Giant Food. 

Dave enjoyed entertaining and hosted many social and family get-togethers in their home. He loved traveling and proudly displayed his extensive collection of German steins, ceramic villages, political buttons, and vintage trains at Christmas. There will be no viewing or services at Dave’s request, eventual inurnment will be at a future date in the St. Paul Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
