David Eugene Hawker

David Eugene Hawker, 63, of Jefferson, MD, passed away on May 30, 2025.

He is survived by his loving wife Lisa, of 43 years; his son, Phillip Hawker; his daughter, Megan Ritch, and her husband, Brandon, of Jefferson, MD; his sister, Lisa Darr, and her husband, Ronnie, also of Jefferson, MD; and his mother, Gloria “Peggy” Hawker.

David was a proud grandfather to Trevor, Keagan, Willow, Juliana, and Lilah. He also held a special bond with his uncle, Kenny Hawker, of Jefferson, MD.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hawker Jr., of Jefferson, MD and grandson Camdon Ritch.

A 1979 graduate of Brunswick High School, David developed a strong work ethic working on his father’s dairy farm. He later began his career with Erwin Distributing Co., where he was fondly known as the “beer man” and made many cherished memories with his coworkers. He later joined JP Donmoyer, Inc., now Quality Carriers, where he continued his career as a truck driver, a role he embraced with pride, often calling himself “the best professional driver around.”

Though hardworking and dedicated to his profession, David’s true passion was farming. He loved spending time on the tractor and could often be found helping his close friend, John “Homie Cheese” Wright, of Middletown, MD.

When not working, David loved spending time at home with his family or unwinding on a beach with a Jack and Coke in hand, embracing life with warmth, humor, and a genuine love for those around him.

The family invites you to a celebration of David’s life to be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home in Brunswick, MD. A gathering will follow at the Jefferson Ruritan Center, where all are welcome to join in sharing stories, memories and a meal in honor of David’s life.
