David B. Huffer, 68, of Middletown, Maryland, went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 6, 2026 at his home in Middletown, Maryland.
Born on August 21, 1957, in Frederick, Maryland, he was the son of the late Donald and Greta Huffer.
David was a 5th generation farmer and dedicated Urban Technician for the Frederick County Soil Conservation District for over 20 years. His life was rooted in hard work, faith, and an unwavering love for his family. David was a devoted man of God and lived with quiet strength and humility, guided by his beliefs in all that he did.
He was a proud and dedicated member of the Jefferson Ruritan, where his servant’s heart and commitment to the community he loved was evident to all who knew him. David never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and before long, they felt like an old friend. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to give whatever he could to someone in need, never asking for anything in return.
David also had a playful side that brought joy to those around him. He loved to crack jokes and laugh with everyone he met and was always ready with a crooked grin and eyes that sparkled. That lighthearted spirit made people feel at ease and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Above all else, David was a family man. He loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren fiercely and without hesitation. His greatest joy and purpose in life was caring for and protecting them. That was a role that he fulfilled with steadfast devotion every single day.
David leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and selflessness. The lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the example he set will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his daughters, Amy Deavers (Billy) and Sarah Knox (Dustin); and his cherished grandchildren, Toby, Rosie, Tate and Isla, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Kenneth Reeder, brother Marty Huffer (Jeri); his sister Donna Huffer, nieces Mandy (Thomas), Jessy, Nikki, Natalie (Colton), 2 great nieces, 2 great nephews and 4 special bonus children, Chrissy, Bruce, Alicia and Evie.
Our family would like to express our immense gratitude for the outstanding compassionate care that David received while at FHH and with Frederick Health Hospice. David was treated with respect, dignity and gentleness, and we will forever be grateful.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland.
A celebration of David's life will take place on Monday, April 13th, 2026 at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church. 107 W. Main St. in Middletown, MD.
