David Philip Kaye

David P. Kaye  of Frederick passed away on  Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Born September 13, 1945 in Brooklyn New York he was the son of the late Nat and Rose Handschuh Kaye. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn NY.

David joined US Army and the Army Corp of Engineers in 1963 at age of 17. In 1966, went to Airborne school at Fort Benning, GA  having 214 Jumps in his career.  Followed by Special Forces training at Fort Bragg NC. David served his first of 3 combat tours in Vietnam in 1967.  A member of the 5th special forces group and was wounded twice. In 1976 Became Chief Warrant Officer and in 1988, after 25 years, retired from Army and became utilities manager at Yale University in New Haven CT. David became manager of utilities and energy manager at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA in 1990, and by 1992, became Senior Director of Facilities Management for Biomedical Services, American Red Cross where he retired from in 2009.

David was a Commercial Realtor at Tyler-Duncan Realty Partners in Ijamsville, MD as well as a Facilities Management Consultant and was a graduate of University of Maryland. He was a member of the International facilities Managers Association (IFMA), American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Officers Association of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Special Forces Association.

He was a 13-year cancer survivor and often spoke at Relay For Life events. David enjoyed stamp collecting, reading, baseball and New York Giants football.

Surviving are his wife, Marguerite A. Vacca-Kaye whom he met while stated at Scholfield Barracks, HI; two daughters: Eliza Kay Dennison and spouse Leigh Anne, of Cleveland Heights OH and  Denise Kaye Dorrall, of Madison OH; as well as three grandchildren and several cousins and nephews. 

A Military Funeral will be held at the Memorial Cemetery the Pacific in Honolulu in 2024.
