David Nathanson

David Nathanson, 77, of Frederick, Maryland died on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Paula Nathanson.

Born on September 8, 1946, in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Harry Nathanson and Bessie (Beader) Nathanson.

David graduated from Boston Latin School. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor's Degree in Russian, and a Master's Degree in Linguistics. During his college years, he played guitar in local coffee houses. He furthered his education and received a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island.

David was proud to have been employed with the National Park Service for 32 years as a Library Archivist. After retirement, he continued to enjoy his passion for exploring and archiving. 

He was a very active member and past president of Beth Sholom Congregation.

He loved family hikes and bike rides and camping with his son and friends. David could build or fix anything and was often called on by friends to solve their computer problems. He was an avid reader and history buff.

David loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amy Marlow (Josh), Adam Nathanson (Nicole), and Jenny Lazarus (Julian); and grandchildren, Noah, Alana, and Jonah Marlow, Charlie and Oliver Lazarus, and Max and Gabriel Nathanson.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Diane Glickman. 

Funeral services will take place at 2:30 pm on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Beth Sholom Congregation, 1011 N. Market Street in Frederick, MD.   

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coalition to Protect America's National Parks, 2 Massachusetts Ave. N.E., Unit 77436, Washington, D.C. 20013-5675; Accelerated Cure Project for MS, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 140, Waltham, MA 02451; or  Beth Sholom Congregation, 1011 North Market St., Frederick, MD 21701.

The family will sit Shiva Monday, October 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the family home.
