Deborah Elaine Fornwald

Deborah Elaine "Debbie, Forney" Fornwald, 71, life-long resident of Thurmont, passed from this life on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born on March 27, 1955, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Emil Fornwald and Helen Frances (Long) Fornwald.

Debbie was a proud member of Catoctin High School, class of 1973. She enjoyed planning and assisting with class reunions over the years. Debbie maintained many longtime friendships from her school days. She was a 1975 graduate of Frederick Community College and attended Abby Business College.

In earlier years, she worked as a Finishing Machine Helper at Moore Business Forms. Additionally, she worked at the Thurmont Amvets as a bookkeeper and waitress.

Debbie was a former member of the Amvets Auxiliary and the Thurmont American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed helping with family reunions and striking a conversation with everyone she met along the way. She loved going to yard sales and was always willing to help find those particular items someone was looking for. Oftentimes, this could lead to having more than one!

Debbie was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother, Douglas Wayne Fornwald and his wife, Laura; her sister, Beverly Weddle; and many additional extended family members and dear friends.

Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 6 at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont. Those attending are asked to dress casually.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
