Dennis Griffith

Dennis Marvin Griffith also known as “Prospector” and “GG”, 64, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Born on December 1, 1960, in Olney, MD, he was the son of John Griffith and Carol Griffith (Lochner).

Dennis was a graduate of Wootton High School, class of 1979.

Dennis was a truck driver for over forty years, where he was an owner and operator of his equipment. 

Family was important to Dennis, he always made the time, whether it be fishing with his son and family or attending every one of his grandchildren’s sporting events and instrumental concerts; he made the time. He loved his children, grandchildren (which he spoiled at every chance), nieces, nephews, and great nieces. He liked old cars, riding his motorcycle, watching his TV, and feeding and watching wildlife.

His bark was bigger than his bite. He was a great asset to the family. He was always there for anyone in need. He was a tremendous help to his mother.

He is survived by his mother Carol Griffith, daughter, Denise McCadden, son-in-law Scott McCadden, granddaughters Trista and Tessa, son Daniel Griffith, girlfriend Shannon Wilson, sister, Serena Griffith, niece, Sabrina Williams, nephew-in-law husband Byron Williams, great nieces Larkin and Holly, nephew Travis Griffith, niece-in-law Tara Griffith, great niece Kelsey, and nephews Michael and Christopher.

He was preceded in death by his father John Griffith, and his brother John “Squirrel” Griffith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland 21702.

A celebration of Dennis's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD.
