Donald L. Covell

Donald (Donnie) L. Covell of Ijamsville, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the age of 63.

Donnie grew up in a large multi-generational farming family in Montgomery County, Maryland. The son of the late William and Evelyn (Savage) Covell. He grew up as an active member of the Montgomery County 4-H Club and enjoyed raising and showing cattle. He is a lifetime member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

As an adult, Donnie bred, raised, and showed beef cattle. This was one of his proudest accomplishments as he received many awards and accolades and later was founder of a successful livestock business, Covell Cattle Co. In addition to his business, Donnie worked as an AG tech for Gladhill Brothers, Damascus, Maryland since 1989.

He is survived by three children: Diana, Dr. Jeffrey (Mary), Jay (Gretchen). Grandchildren: Blaine, Graham, Lucy Ann, Olivia, and Bergen. Also survived by siblings: Putch (Barbara), Bertha Musser, Sharon Dickinson (Robert), Sandy Buffington, Linda Beavers (Tom), Gail Brashear, Harry, Osie Lebowitz (Dave), and Scott. Preceded in death by Donnie’s beloved brother, Bob Covell.
Many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifetime friends were all very close to Donnie’s heart and everyday life. 

Donnie was happiest when he was involved in conversations with all people, working on farm equipment and helping others.

Visitation will be held at Stauffer’s Funeral Home (8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD) on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm. A private graveside service is scheduled Saturday, March 25.
