Donald L. Gill

Donald L. Gill, age 75, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Don was born on March 22, 1950 in Washington, DC. He was the son of the late Stephanie Lauritzen Gill and Donald Leicester Gill. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dana Gill (NJ) and Robyn Bedell (NC).

Don is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Adele; sister, Denise Gill, of Damascus, MD; daughter, Noelle Soobert (Allan) of McLean, VA, and grandsons, Will and Ellison; son, Matthew Gill (Meg), of Oakton, VA and grandsons, Ryan and Connor; daughter, Meredith Green (John), of Richmond, VA and granddaughter, Parker and grandson, John James; son, Caleb Gill (Leigh), of St. Leonard, MD and granddaughters, Cora, Hannah, and Camille Gill.

Don was a sportsman and avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and golf. His favorite fishing was at Thousand Islands, NY; hunting at the cabin in Butternut Grove, PA; and golf at Beaver Creek Country Club, Hagerstown, MD and Plantation Golf Club in Leesburg, FL. Don coached and refereed soccer, including coaching the Boonsboro High School Girls Soccer team and greatly enjoyed these pastimes. Don was also a great lover of American history, and was an avid reader on the topic.

In his working life, Don was a former member of the Operating Engineers Local 77; and Real Estate Broker in Frederick County for over 25 years, including serving as FCAR president in 1995 - 1996 and Broker for Help-U-Sell of Frederick County, as well as Real Estate Appraiser for over 10 years.

A combined celebration of life for both Don and Adele will be held on January 9th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Boonsboro, Maryland at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home.
