Donald John Wilhelm, 75, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2025, surrounded by family
and love.

Born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Donald lived a life marked by quiet dedication, deep intellect, and boundless compassion. A lifelong academic, he valued knowledge and spent his life immersed in books, an avid reader and passionate collector whose shelves told stories of history, philosophy, and human triumph.

Donald devoted himself not only to intellectual pursuits but to the causes closest to his heart. A lifelong animal lover, he regularly volunteered at local animal shelters, offering comfort and care to those who had no voice. His own pets were cherished members of the family, and his compassion for animals was a defining thread throughout his life.

He was a man of principle, a devoted and loving husband to Olga, and a great father to his daughter Vera Cohen. He was a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Olga Wilhelm, and his daughter, Vera Cohen, who will continue to honor his legacy through love, remembrance, and continued acts of compassion.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 22nd at the Stauffers in Walkersville, located at 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville Maryland, 21793. A public visitation will occur from 11-12 with a service to follow at 12. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donald's name to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
