Donna L. Hargett

Donna L. Hargett, 85, of Frederick, departed from this life on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Spring Arbor of Frederick.

Born on February 15, 1940, in Harrisburg, PA, and growing up in Westminster, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Pauline Virginia (Koontz) Stonesifer.

Donna raised two children, Gordon (late) and Kim. She is also loved by her sister, Connie; daughter-in-law, Christine; her six grandchildren, Jackie, Justine, Rebekah, Rachel, Elizabeth and Sara; and two great-grandchildren, Sage and River.

Donna's working passion was nursing and caring for others. She proudly attended Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing where she made life-long friends. After leaving Hopkins, she attended Frederick Community College and graduated from George Mason University with a BSN in 1981. She received a Master's in Science (Nursing Administration) from University of Maryland in 1986. Donna worked for one year as a staff nurse in the OR at Gettysburg Hospital in Pennsylvania. Donna was employed for 45 years at Frederick Memorial Hospital, in various RN staff and management positions. She ultimately became Vice President of Patient Care Services in 1995 until her retirement in 2005.

Dancing had become a passion for Donna. She had taken lessons with and participated in competitions through two well-known dance studios. Over the years, Donna made many life-long friends dancing who would often travel together. Donna was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

A celebration of Donna's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Frederick Health Hospice, BridgingLife (formerly Carroll County Hospice), Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Spring Arbor of Frederick for their exceptional care of Donna during her years there.
