Donna Lynn Elizabeth Joy

Donna Lynn Elizabeth Joy, 60, of Frederick passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Frederick Health Hospital, after complications from lung cancer and a fractured hip. She was the loving wife of James R. Joy, III. They were married for 36 years. 

Born on December 25, 1961, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of Donald J. Ceccorulli and Jacqueline  (Wicke) Ceccorulli of Frederick. 

Donna was a graduate of Walkersville High School. Donna worked at Project Enhancement Corporation (Germantown) as a Senior Analyst, primarily supporting the Department of Energy. 

Donna loved to read, cook for friends and family, travel to any tropical destination, spend time at the beach, and enjoyed being with family and friends. She was the biggest fan and supported her beloved Baltimore Ravens through Frederick Ravens Roost #43. Above all else, times spent with her granddaughters were most precious to her. 

Donna was loved by all and will be greatly missed. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by one daughter, Lauren Joy; granddaughters, Layla and Marceline Mellinger; siblings, Laura Ceccorulli,  Scott Ceccorulli, and Audra Jacob; nieces and nephews; Michael, Tony, Alex, Emily and Jake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Barbara) Joy and their daughter Stephanie and her son, Jack;  Barbara (Jeff) Clark and their two sons, Jeffrey and Justin; and Robert (Rachel) Joy and daughters, Shannon and Sarah; many extended family members, good friends and co-workers.

She was predeceased by her father-in-law, James Raymond Joy Jr., and mother-in-law, A. Louise Joy.

The family would like to thank all the medical professionals and support staff at Frederick Health, Sinai Hospital (Baltimore) and the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute (Baltimore) for their expert and compassionate care. 

The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  

A celebration of Donna's life will begin at 1 pm on Friday, September 23 from the funeral home chapel. 

Interment will be private.
