Doris Ann Monroe, 82, of Mount Airy, MD, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD. Born on March 31, 1942, in Adamstown, MD, she was the daughter of Simon W. McBride and Annie L. (Bussard) McBride. Doris graduated from Gaithersburg High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon Worthington McBride and Annie Elenora McBride; her husband, Donald Byrd Monroe Sr.; her sons, Donald Byrd Monroe Jr. and an unnamed Angel; her sibling, Betty Jane Schaible; and nieces, Sandra Lee and Debra Lee, as well as her great-niece, Kaisy Lynn.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Heffner, and her husband, Stephen, and her daughter-in-law, Carrie Monroe. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Britnee Ryan and Danielle Nicole, and her great-grandchildren, Sylas Alexander and Mason Bentley. Additionally, she leaves behind her niece, Pam, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Doris’s life was defined by her devotion to her family, her strong-willed personality, and the love she generously shared with those around her. Her legacy will live on through the generations she touched and helped shape.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 12-2 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. A graveside prayer service will follow at Kemptown Cemetery.
