Doris Elaine Dearo

Doris Elaine Dearo,88, of Clarksburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, December 5, 2025. She was the wife of the late John Tazzie Dearo for 59 years.

Born on February 24, 1937, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Ethel Louise (Antrobus) Van Fossen.

Doris was a1955 graduate of Anacostia High School. After raising her family, she worked as a sales associate at Toys R Us. Doris enjoyed sewing and bowling and participated in various bowling leagues.

She is survived by her six children, Daniel Dearo (Karen Puig), Jonathan Dearo, Charmaine Edwards (Tony Edwards), Ramona Garrett, Edward Dearo, and Heidi Dearo (Jason Zinkand); grandchildren, Danielle Gumphrey, Tony Edwards Jr., Rebecca Laughlin, Samantha Phillips, Ricky Garrett, Dalaney Krier, Marissa Hutt and Matthew Dearo; ten great-grandchildren and two step grandchildren and brother Richard Van Fossen.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Mt. Airy), 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on December 10, 2025, at the Difference Makers Church, 11210 Bethesda Church Rd., Damascus, MD 20872. Pastor Clark Baisden will officiate. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
