Doris (Dottie) N. Main 94 previously of Walkersville, MD passed away on March 11, 2024 at Village Crossing in Frederick, MD.

Born October 25, 1929 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Beulah C. Delawter. 

Dottie was a lifelong member of the Mt. Pleasant Reformed United Church of Christ and choir member for many years. Dottie also volunteered at the Walkersville Senior Center, and enjoyed her time with friends eating lunch at various places in Walkersville. Dottie’s legacy came in the form of volunteering for many groups, companies, and organizations over the years including: Mt. Pleasant Reformed United Church of Christ, Red Cross, and the Walkersville Fireman’s Carnival to name a few.


Dottie graduated from Frederick High School at the age of 15, and started working at Hood College doing secretarial work. She continued her passion as a secretary at Fort Detrick till she retired after 30 years of service. Dottie wasn’t ready to retire totally as she the spent several years serving as a secretary at Walkersville United Methodist Church.


Surviving are nephew William C. Delawter and wife Xan of Frederick, MD; Dr. Teresa L. Delawter of Manassas VA; two great nephews William P. Delawter and wife Meaghan of Frederick, MD; Taylor K. Reuter of Manassas, VA; and one great niece Hannah C. Reuter of Charlotte, NC. Dottie also had two great great nephews whom she loved Liam and Max.


Dottie was predeceased by her husband Leslie (Leck) P. Main, bother William F. Delawter, and sister in law Rita J. Delawter.


The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home in Walkersville, MD on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will be private.


Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Reformed United Church of Christ, or a charity of your choice.
