Dorothy Frances Ahalt (Dottie), 89, of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on September 26, 2025.
Born on September 18, 1936, in Arlington, VA to Vernon and Veola Havenner. Dottie was the beloved wife of Norman Lee Ahalt, Sr (Sonny) for 63 loving years until his death in 2016.
Dottie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ronald Ahalt (Sue), Sandy Titus (Jeff Booth), Judy Cody (Ken) and nieces who were more like daughters, Barbara Parsley and Linda Dykstra. In addition to her children, “Gaga”, as she was known, will be missed by her grandchildren, Kim Baker (Ray), Lori Fields (Danny), Kyle Ahalt (Nancy), Katrina Toombs (Jimmy), Amy Pickett, David Ahalt (Amanda), Lindsay Champion, Kristi Hawkins (Dave), Bobby Titus (Kirsten), Erica Kimble (James), Dustin Cody (maybe the Favorite) (Kaitlin), Samantha Cranford (Ryan); twenty seven great children, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her brother Thomas Havenner (Ellie).
In addition to her husband, Dottie is preceded in death by her son, Norman Ahalt, Jr.; great-great-grandson, Robert Kyle Ahalt, Jr. (Robbie); siblings, Vernon Havenner and Charles Havenner; and close friends, Kelly and Pat Williams.
Dottie will be missed by many close friends including, Joe and Loretta Hubble, Nancy Bittle and Kim Pfifer.
After many years of raising her children, Dottie worked for Montgomery County Public Schools influencing the lives of many children. Upon retirement, Dottie and Sonny spent their time traveling through the United States only missing Hawaii, North Dakota and Alaska. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was truly the matriarch of the family and lived life to the fullest. Dottie was a source of inspiration to those that were lucky enough to know and love her.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 from 6-8pm.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 2nd, 2025 at 10am from the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Manor Reformed Cemetery
Pallbearers, Grandsons David Ahalt, Bobby Titus, Dustin Cody, Jim Toombs, Dave Hawkins and great grandsons, Travis Fields, James Toombs, and Justin Reed.
