Dorothy Ann Hackett

Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Hackett, a loving sister, mother, and grandmother passed away on May 10th, 2023, at the age of 81. She was born on January 3rd, 1942, in Poolesville, MD to the late Joshua Hamilton and Fannie Mae (Moore) Hamilton. There she was an active member of the community and built her legacy as a Deaconess at Jerusalem Baptist Church and a Superintendent of the Sunday School. 

Throughout her life, Dorothy prioritized caring for others and positively impacting her community. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Friendly Thrift Shop and pouring love into those around her. Her proudest accomplishments are rooted in her strong faith and dedication to her church and family.

Dorothy's surviving family members include 4 sisters and 5 brothers, Anne Whisonant, Elaine Snow, Deborah Gray, Patricia Murray, George Hamilton, Benjamin Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, Eugene Hamilton, and Theodore Hamilton. Dorothy is also survived by 1 son, Clifton T. Hackett Jr., 5 grandchildren, Clifton T. Hackett III, Thomas Bivens, Micheal Bivens, Nathaniel Hackett, and Portia Hackett, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy worked as a contract specialist for the National Institute of Health (NIH) for 43 years. Although she lived a fulfilled life outside of work, Dorothy found joy in her career at the NIH alongside colleagues who appreciated her irreplaceable contributions. Her professional accomplishments were highly regarded.

Memorial Services for Dorothy Hackett will be held at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 19215 Jerusalem Road, Poolesville on Saturday, May 20th. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM until noon. Officiating will be the Rev. C. Glen Taylor.
 
Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

To know Dorothy was to love her infectious smile and laughter that radiated joy wherever she went. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family and instilling meaningful values in those around her. Dorothy was a strong-spoken woman who loved unconditionally. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.
