Douglas Ray Fowler's Obituary

Douglas Ray Fowler of Frederick passed away on February 19, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 27, 1956 in Houghton, Michigan and raised in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Judith Sue Fowler and the late Ray Harland Fowler of Springfield, Virginia.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman with a deep love of fishing and camping, spending many years as a troop leader for Boy Scouts of America and competing in several Bass Fishing competitions. Proudly sober for 17 years he worked to actively support others in recovery for many years.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Nancy Fowler (Wilkinson); two sons Ian Fowler and Timothy Fowler both of Frederick, Maryland and daughter Kristin Fowler of Flag Pond, Tennessee; Sister Karen Sneed (Fowler) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Doug had an infectious humor and spirit. His capacity for empathy and finding the whimsy in the world, even in its darkest places, was felt by all who knew him.

The memorial service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11am at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A small lunch at a separate location will be held afterward.
