On February 9, 2026, Dr. Georgia Miller died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family and friends at Scotia Village in Laurinburg, NC. She was born in Silver Run, MD, the daughter of George W. and Mamie Street Ingram.
Dr. Miller was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Rev. Gideon Galambos; her second husband Harry Otis Miller and her sisters Mildred Rittase and Minnie Bossard. She is survived by her sister Doris Knox; two daughters Georgia Elizabeth von Galambos Jaimes and Dr. Victoria Ruth von Galambos Zinni Laker; two granddaughters Sydney E. Jaimes and Julia G. Zinni; two nephews and one niece.
Dr. Miller attended New York State University, McDaniel College, The University of Melbourne and Deakins University. She received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Education. She was a member of Phi Delta Gamma and the American Librarian Association. She was employed in Maryland Public Schools for 25 years.
Dr. Miller was a published author, a genealogist, a D.A.R. Regent and a docent at the D.A.R. Museum in Washington D.C. She was a gifted musician and enjoyed playing the violin, piano and organ. As a world traveler, she was able to visit all seven of the world’s continents.
During her life as a “cradle” Presbyterian, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, served on the Altar Guild and was President of the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was a volunteer for the Sunday Soup Kitchen, Pets on Wheels and the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
During her active years, Dr. Miller was a member of the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Colonists, Dames of the Court of Honor, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the War of 1812 and the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Dr. Miller was a stroke and cancer survivor and spent her later years at Scotia Village, a Presbyterian retirement center in Laurinburg, NC where she was a member of the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church.
A private graveside service will be held with burial beside her late husband, Harry O. Miller, in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, MD.
