Dr. Krishna Sastry Vanguri, of Frederick, MD, and previously of North Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mahalakshmi Vanguri, who passed away onin May 8, , 2015.
Born January 7, 1939 in Tanuku, India, he was the son of Ramakrishna Rao and Venkata Ramani Vanguri. He immigrated to the United States in 1966 to pursue his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Brown University, and he became a naturalized citizen in 1978. He had a long career as an engineer for both the David Sarnoff Research Center-RCA in Princeton, NJ, and Bell Laboratories-AT&T in Holmdel, NJ. He is most proud of being a founding member, trustee and past vice chairman of the Sri Venkateswara Temple of Bridgewater, NJ. In his retirement years, he relocated to Frederick, MD to be closer to his grandchildren and enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Center and volunteering as an AARP tax advisor.
He is survived by his sons Sanjay (Supriya) of Frederick, MD, and Vijay (Judy) of Hopkinton, MA, and grandchildren Saara, Clara, Aanika and Ezra, and dog Luna. He is also survived by his sister, Girija (Mohan), and his brothers Prasad (Kumari), Raghavarao (Rajyam) and Apparao (Padma). As the patriarch of the vast Vanguri clan, he was loved by countless cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren in both India and the U.S.
Services will be held on Monday, August 5th, 2024, at 2PM, at the Stauffer Funeral Home and Crematory, 1621 Oppossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations, in his memory, to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, (www.themmrf.org).
