Listen to Obituary

Edward A. Daugherty, Jr. (Doc), 76, of Hedgesville, WV and formerly of Brunswick, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, in Morgantown, WV.

Ed was born on December 20, 1949, in Frederick, MD to Edward and Vivian McWilliams Daugherty. After graduating from Brunswick High School, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969. During the Vietnam War, he honorably served his country aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga as a member of Squadron VF-31, the "Tomcatters."

Following his military service, Ed spent many years as a railroad engineer. He was a loving and devoted father to Jennifer and a proud grandfather to Alexander and Morgan. A 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason, Ed was a dedicated member of Brunswick Masonic Lodge No. 191 for 43 years, where he served as Senior Deacon. He was also a member of the Sojourners 354 Fort Detrick Chapter.

Ed was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and treasured the many trips to Dallas he took with Jennifer and Alex. He loved his 1965 Impala and enjoyed taking it out for a drive. He also had a competitive streak and especially enjoyed the friendly races they shared during those trips. They watched the Cowboys play, went to the rodeo, and created many special memories together. On their last trip, Ed finally got to see his beloved Cowboys come away with a win.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bausman, and her husband, Jamie; grandson, Alexander Bausman; granddaughter, Morgan Bausman; sister, Gwynn Daugherty of Brussels, Belgium; brother, William "Blooch" Daugherty of Florida; many extended family members, and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his brother, Wayne Daugherty. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those he loved and missed so dearly.
