Edward Duffy

Edward Joseph Duffy of Frederick, Maryland passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at the age of 86.

Ed was born on February 17, 1940, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He built a long and dedicated career in the insurance industry and proudly served his country as a Coast Guard Reservist, later continuing his commitment as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

A lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Ed also helped co-found the Gaithersburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a community tradition that reflected his pride in his Irish heritage. He was an avid reader who devoured the newspaper from cover to cover nearly every day since he was a teenager, and he was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders, Washington Nationals, and Baltimore Orioles.

He is survived by his children, Christoper Duffy, Susan Duffy and her spouse Mary Fearing, and Karen Duffy and her spouse, Wayne Pulliam, his grandchildren Alexander Duffy and Andrew Pulliam, and his great-grandchild, Sebastian Duffy, as well as his brothers, Robert Duffy and Michael Duffy and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday October 1, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, Maryland 21793.

A graveside service at held on Friday October 2, 2026 at 11:30 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Maryland Coalition of Families, whose mission was deeply and personally meaningful to Ed.

The Broken Chain
     We little knew that day, 

God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

You left us peaceful memories,

your love is still our guide,

Our family chain is broken
