Edward L. Schildt, Sr.

Thurmont

It is with great sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Edward Leon Schildt, Sr. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Frederick Health Hospital.

He was born on February 23, 1941 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He was the son of the late Maude Tome and Raymond Schildt, Sr. He was predeceased in death by his high school sweetheart, Margaret Jean Schildt, who he was married to for 38 years. Also preceded in death by a loving grandson, Christopher Schildt; son-in-law, John Galderise; and always remembered his brothers, James and Raymond (Billy); and loving sister, Helen Smeak.

Edward adored his family and was surrounded by his loving children, Edward (Karen) Schildt, Jr. and Blaine (Patty) Schildt, Sr. all of Thurmont and Tammy (Allen) Patterson of Dallas, GA. He enjoyed many events of his grandchildren: Collin (Allyson) Schildt of Gettysburg, PA, Blaine (Maureen) Schildt, Jr. of Emmitsburg, Carrie (Nathan) Laird of Thurmont, Andrew (Brittany) Parrill of Littlestown, PA, Charlene Parrill (Jimmy) of Waynesboro, PA, Ashley (Luke) Rudd of Anderson, SC, and Coby Galderise (Lauren) of Carrollton, GA. He was very blessed with great-grandchildren, Adalyn Eaves, Ryan and Benson Schildt, Nola, Harvey and Ruthie Schildt, Evan and Harper Laird, Rhiannon Parrill, Lily Brunner and Brooks Rudd. He enjoyed many wonderful years with his surviving brother, Wayne Schildt of Hazelwood, MO.

Ed will also be missed by many surviving nieces, nephews and the staff at Homewood Health Care, Frederick, where he was a resident for 11 years.

He worked at Moore Business Form for many years where he made many wonderful friends. Ed enjoyed spending time at Thurmont American Legion, Thurmont Amvets and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

He enjoyed coaching at Thurmont Little League for over 20 years and was a founding coach for the Thurmont Colts (CYA) Football, where he enriched many young lives over his coaching years.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home in Thurmont. Service immediately to follow with Rev. Mark Eyler officiating. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Homewood Health Care and Hospice of Frederick County.

Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Thurmont Little League, PO Box 361, Thurmont, MD.
