Mr. Edward Grant Toms, Sr. of Clover Hill, Frederick, died Saturday, June 20, at Frederick Health Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Geneva Mae Toms who preceded him in death in 2000.
Born on October 20, 1938, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Schley Taylor Toms, Sr and Mary Fogle Toms Ramsburg and stepfather Henry Ramsburg.
Mr. Toms was a Master Electrician completing multiple commercial projects in the greater Maryland, Northern Virginia, and DC area prior to joining Carroll County Government as an Electrical Inspector for many years before retiring in 2007.
He served in the US Army Reserves and was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God Church of Walkersville where he served in many capacities over the years including Decan, Youth Director, and Royal Ranger Outpost Leader.
A golfer, musician, and a man dedicated to his God and family, Mr. Toms was loved by everyone who knew him.
Surviving are his two children, Tamara Poole and husband Jesse Dale Poole of Walkersville and Edward G. Toms, Jr., of Atlanta, GA. Three grandchildren, Nicholas L. Poole and wife Darby Poole of Orlando, FL, Thomas E. Poole and wife Teri Poole of Frederick, and Jessica L. Collis and husband Matthew R. Collis of Prestonsburg, KY. Seven great grandchildren, Dallas R. Poole, Savannah J. Poole, Harper E. Poole, Arex Monroe and wife Taylor, Brock Gretchen, Matthew R. Collis, Jr., and Levi M. Collis. One sister, Louise Virginia Carpenter of Frederick, and companion for many years, Jan Panceria of Frederick along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Schley “Buck” Toms and two sisters, Mary Jean Rice and Ruth Holt.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 26 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Cecil of Ringgold, GA.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
