Edwin L. Henley, Jr.

Edwin L. Henley, Jr. (Ed), 78, of New Market, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Washington Hospital Center with complications from pneumonia and heart disease.

Ed graduated from Richard Montgomery High School, class of 1965 and went on to complete the Joint Carpentry Apprenticeship program in D.C. He worked for Montgomery County Public Schools as a carpenter and then ventured into his own business as a building and remodeling contractor. Ed enjoyed working in his woodshop. After retiring, he opened a home business as Ed’s Window Screen Repair, LLC.

Ed was a simple, kind, and generous person. He enjoyed talking to people and in particular veterans; always thanking them for their service. He loved our country and the American flag. Ed especially loved animals and cared deeply for all the family dogs. He was previously a member of the New Market Fire Department and Fire Police and served on the Historical District Commission/Architectural Review Commission for the Town of New Market. In his earlier years, Ed enjoyed attending car shows and cruising around in his corvettes and classic cars. He loved being with family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter, Kimberly McTighe; grandson, Shane McTighe (Allison); granddaughter, Meghan McTighe; Brian McTighe.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Karyn Henley and his sisters; Heather and Peggy Henley.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD 21771. Interment will be private.

Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the ASPC or New Market Volunteer Fire Department.
