Edwin J. Gifford

Mr. Edwin Ed J. Gifford, 94, of Mt. Airy, MD., and former 24 year resident of Massapequa Park, Long Island, died on Saturday, August 8, 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Lydia L. (Coughlin) Gifford.
Born on October 24, 1914 in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Alfred and Desiree Gifford.
Mr. Gifford's life career was in the banking and retired as assistant vice president from Citi Bank after 45 years of service. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a W.W. II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific. Mr. Gifford was gifted as a craftsman, and could restore and repair most anything.
Surviving beside his wife are 3 daughters; Eileen Perry and husband Gus, Christine Young and husband Ray, Diane Sartory and husband Peter, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers.
Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Services: A catholic prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, Mt. Airy. Father Joseph Pierce will officiate.
