Elaine D. Watts

Elaine D. Watts, affectionately known as "Mee Mee", 85, of Frederick, passed from this life on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at her home. She was the wife of the late Colten E. Watts, Jr. Born on August 13, 1940, in Frederick, she was the daughter of Charles C. Harris, Sr. and Mary C (Ambush) Harris.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1959. She worked for over 30 years as a benefits coordinator at the Maryland Department of Unemployment Insurance, until her retirement in 2002.

She was a former member of Strong Tower Christian Community and attended St. Paul A.M.E. church in Dickerson in her younger years.

She is survived by her children: LeWyann E. Sherrod, Dale E. Watts and wife Tranessa, and Lisa D. Watts; 3 grandchildren: Kyon-Teka Watts-Sims and husband Lucas of California, Steven Sherrod, Jr., Sha-Reka Sherrod of Arizona; Great-grandchildren, Camon, Caiya and Caden Sims all of California, Serenity Sherrod, Day-Vion and DaVonte Dorsey of Arizona, and siblings: David Harris of Ohio and Carolyn Irick of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including her special nieces, Vanessa Watts, Andrea Irick-Flournoy, Kimmy Harris, and Wanda Harris. Elaine is also survived by her uncle, Arnold Ambush and his wife Marilyn. She will also be missed by her very special and dear friend, Ronald Gilbert.

Elaine is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Alys Harris and Nona Watts-Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Harris, Jr., Howard Harris, John Douglas Harris; four brothers-in-law, John Irick, Daniel Watts, David Watts and Irving Watts; sisters-in-law, Sandra-May Harris, Mary Harris, Gloria Harris, Dora Watts, Bertha Watts and Margaret Watts.

Funeral services will be private.
