Eleanora "Katie" Poffenberger

Eleanora (Katie) Poffenberger, 100, of  Sharpsburg, MD, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD.

Born on January 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Claude G. Eccard and Bernice Susan (Ridenour) Eccard.

Katie is survived by her son, James C. T. Poffenberger and his wife Patricia; a sister, Erlene O. Fogus; two grandchildren, Mary Margaret Melusen and Brien Poffenberger; four great grandchildren, Zachary Melusen, Madison Melusen, Eliza Poffenberger and Avery Poffenberger.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Poffenberger; her brothers, David C. Eccard, Noah C. Eccard, Nathan C. Eccard, and Robert G. Eccard, and sisters, Ruth C. Price, Josephine J. Barnhill, Charlotte R. Kendall, Geraldine R. Eccard, and Betty J. Davis.

She retired from Fairchild Hiller April 6, 1987.  She remained active in the Sharpsburg community and enjoyed quilting.

Internment will be private at Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, MD.
