Elgie Melvin Colbert

Mr. Elgie Melvin Colbert, 86 of Frederick, MD., formerly of Woodsboro, died Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Northampton Manor Health Care Center.

He was the husband of the late Ellen May Elizabeth Boone Colbert, his wife of 60 yrs, who preceded him February 2, 2001.

Born March 28, 1920 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Calvin William and Beulah Viola Quick Colbert.

Mr. Colbert was the last of his immediate family - 2nd son of four.

He worked his entire life farming and loved tending to his calves, loving all animals, especially dogs.

He is survived by Fred Eugene Spielman (that Elgie raised as his son)and wife Frances of Thurmont, MD, his grandchildren Fred Spielman, Jr., Mike Spielman and wife Dora, Gene Spielman and wife Lisa, Kim Spielman and friend Jeff Heward, Four great grandchildren and three
great great grandchildren, a special sister-in-law Louise Weezy G. Warner of Frederick, a sister-in-law Frances Colbert, Niece Anne Dayhoff andPaul Dayhoff his special friend.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Ernest Calvin Colbert, Wilson Sidney Colbert and George Richard Colbert.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, Sunday, November 19, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.

Services: Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20, at 11:00a.m. from the Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, Coppermine Road, Woodsboro with Pastor Richard Rutkauskas, Jr. officiating. Organist Beverly Barton and soloist Allen Brown.
Interment in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Spielman, Michael Spielman, Paul Dayhoff, Sr., Paul Dayhoff, Jr., Tony Dayhoff and L. James Bohn, Jr., Honorary bearers Michael Sirk, Milton Smith and Jeff Heward.
