Elizabeth "Snookie" Ann Mentzer, , passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. She was the wife of the late Thomas Alfred Mentzer. Born on November 30, 1943, in Broad Run, MD, she was the daughter of Thomas Hagan and Louise (Huffer) Hagan.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Mentzer of Winchester, Va., and Suzanne Mentzer-Rupp and husband Richard "Rick" of Lovettsville, Va; eight grandchildren, Andy Jeller, Adam Jeller and wife Heather, Austin Jeller, Aaron Jeller, Christopher Rupp, Jami Tipton and husband David, Renea Rupp and Thomas "Tommy" Rupp as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Lynne Minnick and husband Bill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Leopold and brother Harlan Hagan.

She was a proud graduate of Middletown High School and Hagerstown Beauty Academy. Over the years, she owned and operated Modern Miss Beauty Salon and Snookie’s Hair Salon, where her talent, skill, and kindness touched countless clients. A gifted cake decorator and baker, she brought artistry and joy to every creation. She also devoted her time to serving as a bus aide for special needs students in Loudoun County, a role that reflected her patience, compassion, and gentle spirit.

Snookie was a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lovettsville, Virginia, where her faith and sense of community were deeply rooted. She found joy in painting and a variety of crafts—creative pursuits that showcased her boundless imagination and zest for life. Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her world.

“Snookie” Mentzer leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the stories shared by those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and creativity for years to come.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, at 11:00 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick. Interment will be at Union Cemetery Lovettsville.
