Emma Ann French

Emma Ann French of Tuscarora, MD passed away on April 30th 2023. She was born in Loudoun County, VA on October 22, 1934. She was the wife of Joseph French of Tuscarora MD. They were married on October 14th 1961 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Point of Rocks. She was the daughter of the late Forrest Payne Sr. and Iva Costello Payne. 

She is survived by two sons, Stratton French and wife Cathy of Point of Rocks and Keith French of Hancock MD, Two grandchildren Stephanie and Stephen French. They were her life. She is also survived by sisters, Esther Tranby, Mary Francis Jack, and Nancy Payne. She is preceded in death by siblings Helen Dotson, Arthur Payne, Forrest Payne Jr, William Payne Sr, Catherine Breeden, and Rebecca Lamm. 

She was a member of Emmanuel Trinity Lutheran church. She was president of the Point of Rocks Women's club for many years. She worked at Geico for 5 years and she was a special education bus aide for Frederick County Public Schools for 21 ½ years. She was with the same driver Shirley Phillips for all those years. 

At the young age of 15 she learned how to be a mother and a cook. She helped raise her 8 siblings when her mother died at age 40. Emma loved playing cards with friends and family, playing bingo, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved to cook especially for her family and friends during the holidays. She loved her grandchildren and spoiled them.  

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Marina Brust and Deacon Kim Hintzman. 

Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Point of Rocks. Serving as pall bearers will be Stratton French, Keith French, Matthew French, Gary Henry, George Reid, and Steve Sansone.
