Erin A. Counts

Keedysville

Erin A. Counts, 84, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at his home in Keedysville, Maryland.  He was the beloved husband of Judy Counts for 40 years. 

Erin was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 2, 1940 to the late Donald and Virginia (King) Counts.  The family moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1946 where they lived until 1958.  Erin was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in Southgate, Michigan when he was six years old with his father and sister Nancy.  He was confirmed there at 14 and was involved as an acolyte and usher.  Erin worked in the family business, Counts Bakery, while he was in high school.  He graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1958. 
 
Erin enlisted in the US Army where he attended training for electronic equipment, maker, installer, repairer and was assigned to the office in the Pentagon responsible for this mission.  After his tour in the Army he returned to a civilian position where he served maintaining critical operational sites throughout the Wash DC area, as well as domestic and foreign sites.  During his 34 year career he progressed to leadership positions where he provided guidance for maintaining the high quality performance required of this office.   

Erin had many interests:  A love for bowling in his youth and adult yrs; Horse Racing - attended the Kentucky Derby with  Family & Friends; Fishing with his Dad & with friends in Alaska, VA, NC, FL; Golf whenever he could. In Retirement Erin & Judy enjoyed Cruising to many different ports in the US & Overseas.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sister, Nancy Kriewall; sons, Erin A. Counts, II, Scott K. Counts; grandson, Jeffrey Counts; great granddaughter, Abbigail and cousins, nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland, where a  celebration of Erin's life journey will take place at 11am.  Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
