Ernest Brown, 68, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, March 24 at Meritus Medical Center.  Born on January 7, 1956, he was the son of the late James Sims and Ethel Brown.  He was later adopted by Yates Brown, the late husband of Ethel Brown.  He was educated in the District of Columbia public school system.  He attended Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church for several years.

Ernest entered the Army on August 28, 1978 and received an honorable discharge on August 27, 1981.  He worked many years at the Veterans Hospital of the District of Columbia.  Upon his relocation to Hagerstown, he met and married his beloved wife, Rosemary, in 2010 and he worked at the Washington County Commission on Aging, Inc.

He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and especially loved coming together with family and friends on different occasions.

Ernest leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving wife Rosemary, step sons George and Robert Moals, grandson George Moals, Jr., a sister, Carolyn Whitaker (Bernard), as well as brothers, Robert Watts and Dwayne Watts (Veronica); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Watts.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m.


Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
