Eugene Gutherie Hilty, Jr.

Eugene Gutherie Hilty Jr, lovingly known as Gene, passed away on Tuesday April 28, 2026, at 88 years old.

Born November 6, 1937, in Apollo, Pennsylvania, Gene spent his childhood there until attending Penn State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.

Gene worked until 2002 and later worked partially as a consultant.

Always having a passion for piano he would compose for fun, even a song for his beloved pup, Stella, who preceded him in death.

In retirement his love for travel grew, allowing him to see beyond Maryland where he spent his adult life.

Gene’s legacy survives with his brother James Hilty; his beloved children Michael Hilty, Gena Howard, and Denice Siedzik; two cherished granddaughters Mollie Howard and Vivienne Siedzik; and his dearest friends the Rannals and Gray families.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Hilty Sr and Genevieve Walker.

Life comes and goes as it pleases but what we do with it matters. Gene held life in a firm grasp, living how he wanted. Please keep Gene’s family in your thoughts.
