Eugene Mongan, Sr.

Eugene Mongan, Sr., known to those who loved him as “Woody”, 84, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on February 20, 1942, in Smithsburg, Maryland, he was the son of the late Clyde Milton and Elizabeth Alberta (Stull) Mongan.

Eugene was a working man through and through he spent his years working for J.B. Ferguson and also worked for the Town of Boonsboro.

Eugene loved working on and collecting old cars. He enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his lawn and flowers with pride and care. He was a very strong man who faced life as it came, never giving up no matter the challenge. Eugene cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was a one-of-kind father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply loved, forever missed, and always remembered.

He is survived by sister, Dorothy Mills; children, Brittany Piper (Randy), Eugene Mongan, Jr. (Shannon), Heather Mongan, Terry Kendle, Shirley Olden, Patty Perechuck (Tom), Gloria Baranchak (Bobby), Betty Mongan, Donald Mongan (Patty), Robert Mongan (Yvette); grandchildren, Sloan Mongan (Ninnie), Ian and Peyton (Little Girl) Piper, Kylie Pearson, Brayon Nutt, Justin and Nicki Mongan; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th at Manor Church Cemetery near Tilghmanton.

Memorial donations may be made to Washington County Commission on Aging, Inc.
