Evelyn Rae (Delauter) Eccard

Evelyn Rae (Delauter) Eccard , 98, of Smithsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at her home in Smithsburg, MD. She was the wife of the late William Glenn Eccard, Jr.

Born on April 29, 1928, in Smithsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Grace Rae (Leiboldt) Delauter.

Prior to her retirement, Evelyn worked at the Washington Co. Hospital for 10 years. Evelyn was a member of Salem United Methodist Church,Wolfsville and also attended Virginia Ave. Church of God. Evelyn loved being outside and working outdoors with her flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Snyder, sister, Gladys Jane Kline; nieces, Sharlene Delauter and Sue Draper and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Rodger Eccard and Cecil Eccard; sister, Margaret Carr and brothers, Roy C. Delauter, Boyd D. Delauter and Dickie Delauter.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Salem Community Church, 12477 Wolfsville Rd., Myersville, MD 21773,where a celebration of Evelyn's life journey will take place at 2:30 pm. Rev. Dr. D. Neil Suders will officiate. Interment will be at Salem Church Cemetery in Wolfsville, MD
