Fritz Douglas Pollard III

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fritz Douglas Pollard III, age 67, of Frederick, Maryland. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. 

Fritz was born on January 19, 1955, in Illinois, to Frederick (Fritz) Douglass Pollard Jr. and Addeifie (Cruikshank) Pollard.

After moving to Silver Spring, Maryland, Fritz graduated from Montgomery Blair High School, later joining the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity of Brown University, like his father and grandfather before him. Fritz later started working at Park Police and started his own alarm monitoring company, Alarmworks. 

Fritz was a kind and loving father, a gentle giant, who made friends everywhere he went. He was an avid sports lover; never missing his children’s games, the ones on TV, or those with his bowling league. 

Fritz will be remembered for his large stature, gentle heart, his large smile with almost child-like laughter, his never-ending concern for others and for the way he brightened the worst of days. 

He is survived by his son, Marcus (Kathy) Pollard; his daughter, Meredith (Kenneth) Russell; two granddaughters Jocelyn and Sydney along with other loving extended family and beloved friends.

 Fritz has requested that his ashes be scattered by his children in Michigan.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Friday, January 20th from 4-7 p.m. at Prospect Hall, 909 Mansion Drive, Frederick, MD 21703.

Please come prepared with funny or uplifting stories about him so we know it's okay to smile through our tears. While we are grieving him, we know the last thing he would want is for his loved ones to dress in black and cry. Please wear your favorite jersey, big dog t-shirt or favorite team colors to contribute to the celebration.
