Gary Lewis Hatcher, 66, of New Market, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, MD after a heroic battle with cancer. He was beloved husband to his high school sweetheart Jane Streb Hatcher for 47 years.

Born on July 19, 1959, in Fort Monmouth, NJ, he was the son of Mirella Pia (Rigoli) Hatcher and the late Tracy Preston Hatcher.

Gary was a 1977 graduate of Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, GA, Gary's journey led him to earn an associate degree from the Community College of the United States Air Force. His commitment to serving his country was exemplified through his military service, where he excelled as a Master Sergeant (E-7) in the U.S. Air Force. Following his distinguished military career, Gary continued as a civilian employee and systems analyst for the Department of Defense, where he dedicated nearly three decades. Gary's legacy extends to the community, where he was recognized for his dedication and service, notably as a member of AMVETS Post #7.

He was an avid fisherman, who found peace and joy in the serene moments spent by the water. His love for riding his Harley brought him countless adventures, where the open road welcomed the freedom he cherished. A true enthusiast of history and craftsmanship, Gary took great pleasure in collecting and restoring antiques, breathing new life into treasures of the past. His appreciation for nature compelled him to spend countless hours outdoors, relishing the beauty that surrounded him. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and embraced the title of "World's best Papa" with warmth and pride.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Chad Hatcher and Jessica Blood and her husband Lydon; grandson, Ollie Blood; brother, Tracy Hatcher and wife Shelley and sister Carrolle Hatcher Mayfield and husband Richard.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Smith and dear friend and Logdog buddy, Bobby Cole.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026 where a celebration of Gary's life journey will take place at 3 pm. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's, stjude.org or the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society">American Cancer Society.
