George Dorsey

George William “Toddie” Dorsey, 83, of Frederick, MD, was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday April 6th, 2022 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 5th, 1939 to the late Frank A. Dorsey and Gladys M. Dorsey.

He was hardworking and received many accolades for his leadership in Browning Ferris Industries where he dedicated many years and later retired. He enjoyed repairing automobiles and hanging out with longtime friend, Andy Sewell, at the drag strip racing their 1967 Chevy Camaro. George enjoyed many other hobbies such as teaching Bible study and doing arts and crafts at Citizens Nursing Home.

George leaves, to cherish and celebrate his life, his children, George Copeland of Hagerstown, Linda Foreman (Howard) of Poolesville, Gregory Copeland (Christina) of Frederick with Mary Della Copeland, Terry Shern-Dorsey of Emmittsburg, Michelle Myers (Charles) of Frederick and Stephanie Dorsey of Frederick. He also leaves his grandchildren, Pam Pinkett of Frederick, Terry “Man” Dorsey, Jr. (Chereen) of Damascus, Tamaira “Mimi” Hawkins (Terry) of New Market, Howard “BJ” Foreman of Poolesville, Ciera Myers-Yoho (Elyjah) of Frederick, Charles Myers, Jr. of North Carolina, Justin Foreman of Poolesville, Brittany Foreman of Poolesville; and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by sisters, Shirley Myers of Westminster, Joan Weedon of Frederick; and brothers, David Dorsey (Jerrott) of Frederick, and Dennis Dorsey (Glenda) of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank A. “Bubby” Dorsey and Jerry W. Dorsey, Sr.; also, Janice “Billie” Dorsey, the mother of Terry, Michelle and Stephanie.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. George's Homegoing service will take place at 12 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
