George Castro Eustaquio, Sr. passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born on February 21, 1931, on Guam to Jose Garrido Eustaquio and Ana Leon Guerrero Castro, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his 18 siblings (8 from his father’s first wife, and 10 from his mother).
George was the devoted husband of Rosita San Nicholas Flores for 68 years. Together, they raised a loving family, and he is survived by six of their eight children, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life.
George was a survivor of World War II during the Japanese occupation on Guam. After graduating from a Jesuit high school in the Philippines, George earned degrees from Loyola College in Los Angeles, California, and later from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army (post Korean-era veteran). George’s professional career spanned service with both the Government of Guam and the Federal Government, from which he eventually retired after many years of dedicated public service.
George was a prolific reader and writer. After his retirement, he contributed many articles that were published in the Guam Pacific Daily News. The articles examined laws that profoundly affected Guam, its citizens and its residents. In particular, he was passionate about the importance of the Organic Act of Guam 1950 that granted U.S. citizenship to its people. His writings reflected the skills and wisdom gained throughout his remarkable career as well as the educational, cultural, and spiritual influences that shaped his perspective.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
